Oxide Ceramic Matrix Composites (OCMC)

From monolithic to composite ceramics

Salentec is at the forefront of the transition from monolithic ceramics to Oxide Ceramic Matrix Composites (O-CMCs). Using a patented process, we integrate high-performance ceramic fibers into a ceramic matrix and eliminate the inherent brittleness of traditional ceramics.

Extreme Thermal Shock Resistance: Designed to withstand rapid temperature fluctuations and operating environments exceeding 1200°C without catastrophic failure.

Damage Tolerance: Unlike monolithic ceramics, our O-CMCs exhibit a “non-brittle” failure mode, ensuring structural integrity in critical aerospace and industrial applications.

Applications searching for OCMC

Heat shields and Thermal protecting systems, hot gas valve, burners and exhaust nozzles.

Gas turbine vanes for aircraft engine and power generation.

Light weight CMC and high temperature capability can help reducing fuel consumption, increase range or payload of the aircraft.

Thermostructural properties

Flexural strength up to 380 MPa @RT and 250MPa @1150°C. Weibull modulus m > 14, good interlaminar strength and toughness: ILSS 13-20 MPa and KIC up to 11 MPa*m1/2 Severe impact a

nd thermal shock tests evidenced an extreme damage tolerant attitude of the composites.
